I feel great upon knowing that the government of Dubai has intensified its campaign against "smelly" taxis after receiving numerous complaints from various passengers.
To eliminate the pong of body odor and food smells, it handed over 3,500 air fresheners to drivers. Well, this sounds good, but I don't think this will completely solve the problem.
The fragrance of air freshener expires after a couple of minutes. Everyone knows that. And some people don't like the smell of it. Why don't the government serve the most effective solution?
How?
- Educate the drivers. Teach them the basic personal hygiene. Require them to take a bath daily, change their clothes (uniform) everyday, apply body deodorant, brush their teeth every after meal.
- Penalize them for smoking inside. Some drivers don't care whether their passengers die of suffocation.
- Teach them to clean/wash their car everyday. They must be responsible.
If the government could not implement this solution it has to start finding ways to serve the passengers at its best. Why don't it begin operating automatic taxis?

i agree with your suggestions, they need to realize that they need to impose better and long-term solution for the problem of commuters...
Better yet! Replace all South Asian drivers with Filipino drivers na lang!
nice move from Dubai authority but better if they apply your suggestion.
@batanghenyo,
@deth,
@lifemoto,
@blogusvox,
pwede rin..for the record, walang taxi driver dito na pinoy..
@IamXprosaic,
@kheed,
well its not the perfect solution and not even the permanent one.
They really need to first teach them what do you mean by "personal hygiene" then from there they'll start understanding. Education and knowledge is the key. sana lng taxi operators would initiate seminars to dessiminate info to their drivers
This is a good campaign towards personal hygiene ng mga taxi drivers in Middle East. Dito sa Doha, there is only one taxi company that operates in Doha, and the drivers are in clean uniforms at malinis talaga sila kasi mahigpit masyado ang management ng Mowasalat (taxi company) marami ring silang Pinoy drivers ng taxi at buses dito.
Aw, nakakahilo pa naman ang mabahong kilikili as in
why jst the smelly taxis, how about the smelly peeps outside the taxis, hehe..
(puede ka magdonate bro)
see yah.
Syempre naman boboto kita! jijijijijijiji... yung pampadulas ah wag mo kalimutan.... nyahahahahahahhahahah... Teka di pa pala ako nakapagparegister... makapagparegister nga muna... nyahahahahhahahah
... napadpad : )
